Orbitlending: ETH Gas Before an Orbit Deposit
Updated ·
Before a first deposit into Orbit Protocol's lending markets on Blast, the documented setup requires a Blast-compatible wallet and ETH for gas. The wallet must cover the asset being supplied as well as transaction fees. Current deposit availability remains unconfirmed.
Blockspot's Orbit Protocol listing reports the original website offline since June 7, 2026. That report concerns website access; it does not establish whether each deployed market accepts deposits.
Deposit Assets and Gas
- USDB deposit
- USDB is supplied to its lending market. The documented wallet setup also requires ETH for gas.
- ETH deposit
- ETH can be supplied as the underlying asset. The wallet needs enough ETH to cover both the proposed deposit and the transaction's fee requirement.
- OTokens
- Tokens representing a share of the relevant lending pool, minted when underlying assets are supplied. Holding ETH for gas alone creates no deposit position.
Deposit Permission
In the published
SpaceStation controller
, the
mintAllowed
check requires minting to be unpaused for the selected market and rejects a market that is not listed. These checks describe that code version; the intended deployment and its current settings need confirmation before a deposit.
Example: ETH Deposit Funding
All balances, deposit amounts and fee budgets in this example are hypothetical. Assume a Blast-compatible wallet and an Orbit ETH market that is available and permits deposits.
Wallet balance: 0.02675 ETH. Proposed deposit: 0.02650 ETH. Transaction fee budget: 0.00020 ETH. The funding calculation is
0.02675 - 0.02650 - 0.00020 = 0.00005
ETH remaining beyond the budget.
The proposed deposit fits this assumed budget. If that deposit is submitted and succeeds, the market mints OTokens to represent the supplied position. Check the transaction's successful execution and the OToken balance credited to the same wallet in that market.
With the same hypothetical balance and fee budget, a deposit of 0.02660 ETH gives
0.02675 - 0.02660 - 0.00020 = -0.00005
ETH. The revised plan is short by 0.00005 ETH. Reduce the deposit or increase the wallet's ETH balance on Blast, then recheck funding before submission. A paused or unavailable market remains a separate stop.
The fee budget is an illustrative allowance. Use the fee requirement for the proposed transaction when checking a real deposit's funding.
